Añejo Mockingbird

Used to be this place was mostly about music and pop culture, but it's slowly morphed into a launching pad for finding our foster greyhounds new homes. So be it. We love the hounds and are more than happy to use our modest little blog page to reach out and snag some attention for these greyt dogs... Oh, we'll still post the occasional odd music review or rant at the state of the Redskins from time to time, but they'll hafta take a back seat to the dogs 'til further notice

Bubba Blue

This is Bubba, who's anything but Blue. In fact, he's a hoot and a half! This playful, friendly boy has been keeping us entertained since he arrived Sunday afternoon. Bubba Blue loves his toys and stuffies - he grabs as many as he can and brings 'em all into whatever room suits his fashion. He then proceeds to toss 'em into the air and catch them and throw them up again, and again, and again, although sometimes he takes a break and wanders off to grab a piece of dirty laundry, or sometimes a shoe - because he likes a little mischief to break up the drudgery and monotony of playtime, don'tcha know :-)
When he's not charming the socks off of you (or stealing your shoes!), this intelligent boy is busy quickly learning the ropes of what's expected of him post-racing career. He's learned the basics of the "Sit" command, he's not had an accident in the house since his arrival (high five!), and he's been up and down steps a few times with good results. Going down is easy for him - going up he's needed a little encouragement, but he should easily pick that up after a couple of more times at it. Bubba is getting along fine with his big foster brother Coastal, and loves the kids as well.
As noted earlier, Bubba is inquisitive and occasionally mischievious, which shows up with him grabbing clothes, shoes, and other interesting things, and counter-surfing here and there. It's all minor stuff and he's learning "No!" rather quickly, and we don't anticipate any real problems with any of the above.
In short, Bubba's been doing fine so far. Coming up, we'll be doing some more leashed walks this week to get him acclimated to that. We'll also cat-test him later this week, so check back for an update in a couple of days.
